Do I need planning permission?
In most cases the answer is no. When we come to talk to you we can advise you on all aspects of planning permission and should you require it, we can apply for all necessary consents on your behalf. For more information on planning permission see our Technical Page.
Can I use my conservatory all year-round? Aren't they too hot in summer and too cold in winter?
Some older style conservatories did suffer from that problem, but not anymore. By making use of the latest glass technology, such as Reflex® glass we can ensure your conservatory is cool in summer and warm in winter, enabling you to use it all year round.
Can my conservatory be open-plan with the rest of the house?
That depends on the type of glazing you choose for your conservatory. By using Reflex® glass, our conservatories can reflect 75% of heat; making them cool in summer and warm in winter. This glass also has a very low U value. The U value is a measure of how well the building material retains heat, the lower the figure, the better. With a conservatory made from Reflex glass, the conservatory is so good at heat retention, it can indeed, be open-plan with your house.
Aren't they noisy when it rains?
That depends on the type of roof you have fitted. A traditional polycarbonate roof is noisy when it rains. A glass roof made from either Reflex is not only quiet when it rains, but helps to retain more heat in the conservatory – again ensuring it is not too hot in summer, nor too cold in winter. It also has an easy clean coating that removes surface residue when it rains.
What do all the shapes mean?
A P shape is, as the name suggests is a conservatory in the shape of a letter P laid sideways. They are most commonly used to build large conservatories.
A T shape is also shaped just like the letter and is also mainly used to add larger conservatories onto large properties.
A B Shape is again, shaped like the letter and allows for a large conservatory to be built.
How long will it take to build my conservatory?
On average we will build your conservatory within 6-8 weeks of having received your order.
How do I know who to trust to install my conservatory?
Why do I need roof vents?
Roof vents help to control the climate inside your Orangery, to keep air circulating around your Orangery and to prevent condensation from occurring. Please see the following options to ventilate your Orangery:
Ridgeflow – this is mechanically assisted and thermostatically controlled. It provides for four air-
changes per hour, day and night and works whether you are there or not.
Ridge Trickle – This makes the most of the natural upwards movement of warm air to carry any moisture in the air to the roof where it is then expelled outwards.
Roof vents – these are also thermostatically controlled to allow for up to four changes of air an hour, but also have rain sensors which mean they close at the first drop of rain and when they sense it has stopped raining, they open up again.

What extras do you provide?
As a conservatory designer and installer we only provide extras that can be included in the construction of your conservatory. We provide:
Real-wood laminate flooring
Our unique design bi-fold doors to save space between the conservatory and the house.
Do I have to fit patio doors between the conservatory and the house?
Yes. Building regulations state that doors connecting a conservatory with a house must be of external door quality. You do have a number of options however:
sliding uPVC or timber glazed doors
We will be pleased to discuss each of these options with you and you can see them for yourself at our display centre.
Does my Conservatory have to be made from white uPVC?
No. In addition to White uPVC your conservatory can be built in a variety of colours from Light Oak to Fir Green. We also install conservatories made from wood and orangeries made from brick and glass.
Victorian
A Victorian conservatory had a faceted front that gives it a curved appearance. They are one of the most popular of all conservatory styles and our wide-fronted Victorian conservatory is our best-selling model.
Edwardian
This is a flat fronted conservatory which because of its rectangular shape offers a more versatile inside space than a Victorian conservatory.
Gable
Gable conservatories, like Edwardian conservatories, are rectangular and offer a great amount of internal space. Unlike Edwardian conservatories, they also have a gable roof offering an even greater feeling of space and height inside the conservatory.
Mediterranean
This is an incredibly practical conservatory and is particularly suitable for those wanting a clean-line look. Mediterranean conservatories have a single sloping roof, the pitch of which can be varied to suit your own needs and designs.
Conservatory Solutions for Bungalows
If you have a bungalow we can design and install a double-hip conservatory in any of the above styles. A double-hip conservatory with box-gutter enables us to install our conservatories under the roofline and eaves of bungalows and still offer sufficient rainwater drainage.
